Splits

The splits variations splits the plane along the x and y axes into four quarters, then shifts the quarters apart, leaving a space in the middle. The two parameters, x and y, specify how much to shift horizontally and vertically.

Splits isn’t very useful as a final transform, but when iterated it has a tiling effect, making it a key variation in several styles, notably splits-elliptic.
